CIG UK Easter Service, Wednesday 9th April 2014
Christians in Government UK held an Easter service on Wednesday 9th April in the Emmanuel Centre, Marsham St, Westminster. Around 300 civil servants and friends attended this service, marking the Easter events in the heart of government.
The service itself included worship, a recollection of the Easter events, thankfulness for what God has done for us, and a call for us all to open our hearts to respond to His outpouring of love at the cross. Sung worship was led by Noel Robinson and band, who encouraged us in singing some great well known but also some new worship songs. The Whitehall Gospel Choir sang beautifully in true 'gospel' style both before and during the service. The events of Easter were recalled through bible passages read by several civil servants, and reflections on Easter were given by Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP. Peter Loo, pastor of Emmanuel centre, spoke, focusing on the truth of the Easter story, and how God longs to come into our hearts if only we would open them to Him. An offering was taken in support of the charity STOP THE TRAFFIK.
