CIG Whitehall Easter Event 2013 - Friday 22nd March
Many from the Westminster area joined together to remember and celebrate the events of Easter at Emmanuel Centre, Marsham Street, at lunchtime on Friday 22nd March. It was a moving and very varied service, which combined CIG musicians leading a number of modern worship songs, with the ETCetera civil service choir singing ‘God So Loved The World’ and the ‘Hallelujah Chorus’, a reflective time based on a video presentation and a message from Joel Edwards, International Director of Micah Challenge. The theme was ‘Jesus – Light of the World’, and Joel spoke of the many reasons for us to put our faith in Jesus, who is the Light of the world.
The service brought us all back to the cross in a meaningful way, and reminded us again that Jesus died for us all, that we really can bring our burdens to Him at the cross, and receive forgiveness, healing and release. An offering, amounting to £568 was received; the majority of this will go towards the Open Door Meal ministry of St James the Less Church in nearby Pimlico, with some being used as a contribution to the costs of the service.
